Important Issues to Citizens & Businesses in Macomb County

Protection of the Senior Population

Protection of the Senior Population

My administration will vigorously enforce laws against any person or persons preying on our senior population. Far too often, our seniors have been scammed out of their money by bad actors. The Sheriff’s Office will vigorously pursue anyone who attempts to rip off our senior population. The senior population of Macomb County needs our protection, and they will receive much more of it under my administration. Seniors have paved the way for us; now it’s our turn to look out for them.

Armed School Resource Officers/Security Officers

Armed School Resource Officers/Security Officers

Every school in Macomb County, including grade school, middle school, and high school, needs to have at least one armed officer on the premises. We need to protect our most valuable treasure: our children. This issue transcends all political lines, as our children are our future, and we will protect them. The day after a school shooting, my daughter cried because she did not want to go to school; she did not feel safe. This broke my heart, thinking of all the kids who feel this way. It made me want to make this a top priority under my administration.

Working With Border Patrol / Ice (Immigration Customs Enforcement)

Working With Border Patrol / Ice (Immigration Customs Enforcement)

The Sheriff’s Office will work diligently with Border Patrol and ICE to detain and turn over illegal aliens encountered in Macomb County. In recent years, far too many illegal aliens have crossed the border without being properly vetted (getaways). This has put the public at serious risk of another terrorist attack. Macomb County is a border county with Canada across Lake St. Clair, where illegal aliens frequently cross. Under my administration, we will work tirelessly with other agencies to keep people safe from individuals who intend to do harm and shouldn’t even be here.

Recruitment and Retention of Sheriff's Office Employees

Recruitment and Retention of Sheriff’s Office Employees

The Sheriff’s Office has experienced recruitment and retention issues in recent years. I have spoken with several deputies from road patrol and the jail, and they tell me morale is at an all-time low. I will boost morale at the Sheriff’s Office by making their chosen profession a career again, not just a job. Sheriff’s Office employees are paid less than their counterparts in other departments; this needs to be corrected. The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office deserve comparable pay to their counterparts in law enforcement. The employees have lost their pensions and medical care. I intend to restore these benefits and improve wages. By doing this, morale among the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office will increase, translating into much better service for the residents of Macomb County. I will recruit only the best and brightest candidates to serve the residents of Macomb County.

Deaths Within Macomb County Jail

Deaths Within Macomb County Jail

I will improve the supervision of the inmates incarcerated within the Macomb County Jail, ensuring the safety and security of employees and inmates within the facility. I will bring educational services to the inmates so they may acquire skills that will help them upon release. There is a need for inmates to learn skills so they will have the tools to succeed in life; I intend to provide them with these skills. We cannot continue to house them without offering opportunities for rehabilitation. This has been overlooked for far too long. I will work to cut down on recidivism rates and suicides. By implementing these measures, inmates will find worth in their lives and have something to look forward to each day. These efforts will cost the citizens of Macomb County less in lawsuits and will help released individuals become better members of the community.

Increased Sheriff Patrols on the Roads

Increased Sheriff Patrols on the Roads

We need more deputies patrolling the neighborhoods and roads. My administration will deploy more deputies to patrol the county, making Macomb County a safer place to live and visit. I will assign more deputies to shopping areas during the holidays to ensure the safety of people and their property. This will not incur any additional costs to the citizens of Macomb County. I will utilize reserve deputies to achieve this mission. Reserve deputies volunteer their time and utilize their own equipment, making them a valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office.
